Amanda Earnest, a graphic artist with the Learning Resources Center at Auburn University, helped the Reading Genie create new illustrations of phonemes featuring their graphemes, or principal spellings. These illustrations display sound analogies, real-world sounds that help students remember short-vowel phonemes. The grapheme is embedded in the illustration.
